The Angolan justice sentenced a national citizen found with more than US$80,000 (66,000 euros) on arrival at Luanda International Airport to pay a fine, reversing this amount to the State, the authorities said.
According to Manuel Halaiwa, director of Institutional Communication and Press of the General Directorate of the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Luanda, the seizure of the amount (80,480 dollars, equivalent to 66,250 euros) took place at the time of the disembarkation of passengers.

"After assessing the risk profile of the passenger, he was submitted to a typical screening and search of this citizen's luggage, where 30 mobile phones were found, of which 20 were separated for taxation, various medications and a total of 80,480 dollars", said Manuel Halaiwa in statements to Angolan public radio, RNA.

The official informed that the detainee was present, on Monday, at the summary judgment session, in the 4th session of the common crimes room of the Provincial Court of Luanda, where he was sentenced to a fine, at the daily rate of 75 UCF's (Units of Tax Correction/88.00 kwanzas [0.1 euro cents]) and the payment of a court fee in the amount of 60 thousand kwanzas (75.2 euros).

Also as a condemnatory measure, the court ordered the reversal of the amount seized in favor of the Angolan State, deposited by the General Tax Administration, in the current account of the National Bank of Angola.
